Computer Integrated Manufacturing
A collection of projects I worked on during my senior year of high school, featuring a wide variety of machining processes and design principles.
-
Stoven: Smart Oven Appliance
I worked in a team of two to produce a modification for any gas oven that could inform a user with a vision or hearing disability if the stove was left running. I designed all 3D printed and laser-cut wooden components.
-
Lithophane
Using a custom 3D printed frame and a battery-powered LED circuit, I created a picture box that illuminates lithophanes when the lights are activated.
-
FIRST Robotics
I designed an extendable winch-powered arm for my school’s FRC team in order to grapple a hook to a high bar.
-
EO Machine
Utilized SolidWorks, DLP 3D Printing, and a Raspberry Pi webserver to harvest data from my school’s website and display the cycle day and classes that day.
-
Cat Laser Cut
Using stacked two-dimensional cross-sectional geometry, I created a three-dimensional cat made out of laser-cut wood sheets.
-
robosist
I designed a custom gantry robotic system that mimicked a 3D printer in order to autonomously carry out scientific experiments, much like a pipetting machine.
-
Sheet Metal Jeep
Using Autodesk Inventor sheet metal, a plasma cutter, and a spot welder, I created a cosmetic sheet metal Jeep Wrangler.
-
Flower Lamp
Designed a custom circuit and wooden block flower to mimic the design of a Minecraft tulip. The circuit allowed the internal LED to change between red, green, and blue shades.
-
Butterfly Controller
Worked with a team to design a custom controller for a remote-controlled vehicle. I prototyped all the circuitry and programmed the Arduino microcontroller.
-
CNC Plaque
Designed and programmed the CNC toolpath to manufacture a plaque with my name, Thomas, spelled out with designs on each letter.
-
Freeform Couch
Using Box geometry in Autodesk Inventor, I created a very freeform CAD model of a couch with a 3D print as a reference.
-
Memory Game
A simple breadboarding exercise to create a Simon Says-type memory game.
